Exercise

Dogs need physical and mental exercise to keep

them fit in mind and body. Good quality exercise also helps prevent boredom and associated behaviour problems.

THE EXERCISE NEEDS OF A DOG VARY WITH ITS AGE:

PUPPIES:

To protect growing bones and joints young puppies only need short walks. Tire them out with safe games and toys, and simple reward based training.

ADULT DOGS

Healthy adult dogs need plenty of daily play and exercise. Natural canine behaviours can be given an outlet through various games. Choose the games to suit your dog and its breed or type.

OLD DOGS

Old dogs still need their walks but do take into account ageing joints and your dog’s health. They can still learn new things, play safe games and enjoy the interaction with their owner.

Always check with your vet if you have any concerns about the type of exercise your dog needs.
